KENNY MILLER reckons Rangers can take inspiration from Celtic’s remarkable turnaround under Brendan Rodgers as boss Pedro Caixinha attempts to breathe fresh life into the Light Blues this summer.

The Portuguese is preparing for a crucial close season of transfer activity ahead of the Gers’ return to Europa League action and their second campaign back in the Premiership.

Rangers will round off a poor term against Hearts, Aberdeen and St Johnstone in the coming days before Caixinha looks to ship out a number of unwanted players from his squad.

The task ahead is a considerable one for the 46-year-old but Miller believes the transformation at Parkhead is a reason to be optimistic at Ibrox.

He said: “That is not for me, that is not my job.

“What I will say is that winning games of football brings confidence so if you can win games early and start to get an understanding, a belief and a confidence from that, there is no limit to how far you can go.

“If you stutter and stumble, like we did at the start of the season, confidence takes a hit, you maybe start questioning methods and that is the start of a quick downfall. It sounds a huge task.

“I know Celtic were champions last year, but they weren’t great and we saw that in the semi-final.

“I know we only won on penalties but I felt we were closer to them on the day, we were the better football team, we looked like we had a better game plan.

“Look what a manager and a few big name signings can do. Better quality, higher quality signings and then reinvigorating the good players that were there. We can look at that.

“No doubt there will be people coming and going in the summer but if we can get that right, win football matches at the start of next season and breed confidence in what we are trying to achieve then that will set you up for a far better start to the campaign.”
