Tom Rogic says that he will savour the moment he won the Scottish Cup for Celtic for the rest of his life, after his last-gasp injury-time winner over Aberdeen sealed a dream treble for the Hoops.

The Australian replaced the injured Kieran Tierney in the first-half of a titanic contest at Hampden Park, and he came up with the goods right at the death just as a bolt of lightning split the Glasgow sky to seal a memorable triumph in style.

Everything after the moment the ball hit the net is a blur to the elegant midfielder, as his strike sparked scenes of wild celebration all around the traditional ‘Celtic end’ of the national stadium.

“I wasn’t really aware how much time was left when I picked up the ball,” Rogic said. “I knew it was late, but I didn’t know exactly.

“Craig Gordon picked that ball up at the end and asked the ref and he said 20 seconds. It’s pretty cool.

“It’s hard to put into words. You don’t really realise what you’ve done at the time so you don’t really know where to run or what’s happening. It’s a special moment and something to look back on forever.

“It’s without doubt the most important goal I’ve ever scored. I’ve been lucky enough to score a couple of late winners but nothing compares to that and when it’s in the last couple of minutes it makes it a little bit even more special.”

Celtic applied intense pressure on the Aberdeen goal in the last 20 minutes of the game, but some heroic defending from the Pittodrie side as well as some inspired goalkeeping from Joe Lewis had Rogic doubting whether the winner would ever come.

“Their keeper made one save I was right behind when he tipped a shot from Patrick it onto the post and we had a number of chances where maybe we should have scored,” he said.

“It was possibly just a matter of time and when I got the ball it was about being positive, trying to carry the ball forward. The space opened up for me and luckily enough it went in.”

It was a fairytale end to an up and down season for Rogic on a personal level, with his injury-hit winter now but a distant memory.

He said: “Everyone has played their part this season, we have a big squad and we’ve had a lot of games and to achieve what we’ve done, going the whole season unbeaten and winning the Treble in the last minute is...I don’t really know what to say.”
