GORDON STRACHAN has cut five players from his Scotland squad to face England ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park.

The Scots face the Auld Enemy on Saturday 10 June at 5pm as they look to end a 20-year exile from a major tournament in Russia next year.

Hearts goalkeeper Jack Hamilton, Hibs midfielder John McGinn and Aberdeen's Kenny McLean have all dropped out of the squad in addition to Brighton's Jamie Murphy and Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher.

Celtic defender Kieran Tierney remains in contention despite concerns over the severity of the injury that saw him replaced during the first half of his side's Scottish Cup final victory against Aberdeen on Saturday.

He is joined by five Hoops team-mates in the squad, all of whom started in the 1-0 win over Slovenia in March.

Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser will be hoping to earn his international debut during next month's encounter after an impressive Premier League season with the Cherries.
