MYLES BEERMAN hopes he can go from strength to strength during his first full campaign with the first team squad at Ibrox.

The defender made a handful of appearances for Rangers during the closing weeks of the season as he stepped in for captain Lee Wallace.

Beerman has joined Pedro Caixinha’s squad during their preparations for the big kick-off in the last fortnight.

The countdown is now on to the Europa League clash with Progres Niederkorn on Thursday night and the 18-year-old is determined to make his mark once again this term.

“It’s good to be back and we have a really important season ahead of us,” Beerman told RangersTV. “We’re working really hard as a collective, and all the new lads have been good as well.

“All-in-all, everyone has been working and working and working and trying to reach the targets for the season.

“I just came here and my main focus was just to enjoy my football and to keep on progressing in my career.

“I’m still 18 years-old, but as soon as I got the chance I took it and kept on playing. For me, it was something special as not many 18 year-olds get that opportunity and I just tried to take it as best as I can.

“I wasn’t expecting it but I was wanting to push myself to hold onto it.

“My aims for the new season are just to keep building. I’m still developing my game, but I want to get as much game time and as much involvement as I can and just keep enjoying my football.

“The gaffer has shown massive trust in me, and I thanked him so much as he gave me a massive opportunity. His message was always just to keep on working hard and try and improve on what I can do.

“It’s always good to have lads come up from the Academy, to train, to do so well and to get some game-time. That’s definitely the aim of having an Academy, and I am really chuffed for all of them too.”
