I am sure Andy Halliday will be really disappointed to leave Rangers but if he wasn’t going to be involved this season then it is best for him and the club that he moves on.

Everyone knows where Andy’s allegiances lie and what it meant for him to play for Rangers. Sometime a lot can be made of that but you only get to play if you are good enough.

I will be sad to see him go. A lot of fans might not agree with that but he never shirked anything at Rangers and he gave his all for the jersey.

He scored a couple of important goals, he turned in a few Man of the Match winning performances and he got to captain the side as well. He will be gutted that it is over.

But if he has been told by the manager that his game time will be restricted then he had to look for other options and he has chosen to go to Azerbaijan for a season.

He could have sat at Rangers and picked up his money but that is not what he is about. He wouldn’t want to be at the club and not contribute.

He will be hoping that he can go over there, play some games and catch the eye. If that gets him back in the manager’s plans here, great.

Only time will tell if Andy has played his last game for Rangers. I am sure everyone at Ibrox will wish him all the best for the season ahead.
