Brendan Rodgers will look to do the main body of work against Rosenborg in Glasgow next week.

The Hoops set up a third qualifying tie against the Norwegians after their comprehensive win over Linfield and with a home leg at Celtic Park next Wednesday night, Rodgers is keen to go to Norway having taken a grip of the tie.

"Norwegian teams are disciplined and organised but we know whoever we get won’t be easy," he said. "But if we want to get to where we want we have to get through these games.

"I’m pretty happy we can go in tactically ready and physically we’re still building up. We’re 100% different to where we were this time last season.

"Lots of teams come here and sit behind the ball. 95 percent of the two games were played in the final third.

"Rosenborg will come and want to not concede many.

"We play how we play, we’ll attack the game and see if we can build a lead for the second leg."

Meanwhile, the Celtic manager also insisted that there was nothing to read into his decision not to start Stuart Armstrong against Linfield.

The midfielder is at an impasse with the club over a new contract but Rodgers maintained that there was no drama in his decision to leave the player on the bench last night.

Armstrong replaced Olivier Ntcham and scored with almost the last kick of the ball, but it was the overall team performance that Rodgers stressed he was more concerned with.

"There was no correlation," he said. "There’s been no progress as of yet on the contract. I love working with Stuart.

"If there was any correlation then Scott Brown wouldn’t play, he’s in his last year. I’ve got to prepare players for the course of the season and I’m fortunate we have a strong squad."
