THERE have been a number of issues with the Green Brigade section at Parkhead over recent months but I hope it doesn’t have an impact on Safe Standing areas in general.

We know why all-seater stadia were introduced in this country but we have moved on since then and these sections are certainly popular with supporters across Europe.

If you look at most clubs in the Premiership, whether it is Motherwell, Partick Thistle or St Johnstone, they have an area in the ground where the singers are.

The Green Brigade have been doing things that they shouldn’t have been doing and they have paid the price for that after Celtic shut the section for the game against Rosenborg on Wednesday night.

The atmosphere at Parkhead must have suffered as a result. I know there were thousands of other fans there, but that section is where it starts and they help get the players going.

Every team needs the backing of their fans and there are more singing sections being formed at grounds up and down the country now.

If the Safe Standing trial at Parkhead is successful, and that is a different issue from the banners that are being displayed or the songs that are being sung, then I would imagine other clubs would look at introducing one in their stadium.

Celtic were given permission to install the section and it is only after the authorities see how it has worked that they will decide whether other clubs can follow suit.

What goes on in that area of Parkhead is a different issue to Safe Standing areas in general and I am sure other clubs would consider installing their own rail seating.

It could add colour and noise to the matches and the more atmosphere in our grounds the better, so I think clubs should be looking at in the future.
