CELTIC skipper Scott Brown insists that the Hoops can keep their head amidst the pressure of getting a result against Rosenborg in Trondheim tomorrow night.

The Parkhead side travel to Norway later this afternoon as they look to eke out a result that would take them into the concluding play-off round of the Uefa Champions League.

With the tie delicately poised at 0-0 from the opening leg in Glasgow, there will be a degree of anxiety around the 90 minutes tomorrow night, something that Brown has insisted that Celtic have the stomach for.

“That’s what we thrive off now,” said Brown. “When people are booing you and shouting at you, you need to be composed and keep the ball.

“The longer we keep the ball the more anxious their players will get and hopefully the more spaces we can find.

“There’s a belief, even from the fans as well they believe we can go through whether we are playing at home or away.

“That’s brought in from the manager and his backroom staff. That’s been battered into us, to relax and take the ball under pressure when there are two or three men on you and keep possession when you are away from home.

“That’s the main thing for us, we want Champions League football. This club deserves it and now we need to go and try and get it for them.”

And Brown has maintained that while there will still be nerves, both he and Celtic are capable of using the adrenalin to their advantage.

“You always get nervous because I want this as much as any fans does and the manager wants as much as any fans does,” said Brown “So you get nervous, but you also have to have that wee bit of belief and if we get a wee bit of luck we can get that away goal. You get nervous a couple of hours before when you are sitting thinking about it.

“But then when you go out there it’s game face. You go out and make sure you know your job and make sure you help your mate out as much as possible.

“Yeah, I’ll mess around the training ground and stuff. But as soon as we go on the training pitch I work hard and I enjoy my job so I need to make sure I’m improving every day and it’s not about messing about - this is huge for us.

“This is Celtic, it’s not about going down and playing with your mates and having a bit of banter with them.

“This is life or death. You have to win games. That is why I am here and why I am still here after 10 years.”

There is an argument that Celtic could arguably make a greater impact in the Europa League than the premier Champions League, but Brown has maintained that it is the group stages that the Hoops have their minds set on.

“That’s the main thing for us, we want Champions League football,” he said. “This club deserves it and now we need to go and try and get it for them.

“No, we want to get into the Champions League. This is the big one, this is a cash windfall for the club as well and this pushes us onto the next level yet again. If we can get into it two years in a row it’s great for the club and great for the players’ confidence as well.”
