GORDON (6): Busier in the second period than he was in the first but looked relatively comfortable. Would have breathed a sigh of relief as he watched an effort from Mike Jensen that rippled the side-netting.

LUSTIG (7): One wild volley that flew miles off the target after being teed up by Tierney. The former Rosenborg player got forward often, particularly in the opening period, as Celtic tried to use their full-backs to stretch the game.

SIMUNOVIC (7): Had little to do as Celtic dominated proceedings. Cool and calm under pressure and was a relaxed figure at the heart of the Parkhead side’s defence.

SVIATCHENKO (5): Back in after injury with his experience preferred over the youth of Kristoffer Ajer. Had a header cleared blocked on the line from Nicklas Bendtner after a Jonny Hayes free-kick but his night ended shortly afterwards when he was forced off with what appeared to be a knee injury.

TIERNEY (8): Celtic’s best player. Some excellent offensive work on the flank and it was Tierney’s pace that enabled Celtic to stretch the game at times. Took a sore one when he was clattered by Milan Jetovic.

BROWN (7): One intelligent chip over the Rosenborg defence to the feet of Tierney and one driving effort himself as Celtic tried to find the goal. Led by example with a strong display in the middle of the park.

ARMSTRONG (6): Early days yet so far as the season is concerned but struggled to impose himself. Silly challenge on Bendtner just outside the box that came to nothing but could have been far more significant. Replaced by Rogic almost immediately after Forrest’s goal.

HAYES (5): Didn’t offer much in way of going forward. Struggled to make an impact on the game. Was replaced by Griffiths just before the hour mark.

MCGREGOR (6): Stayed in the starting XI after his weekend hat-trick but found Rosenborg a far tougher nut to crack. Nowhere near the same amount of space to exploit.

SINCLAIR (7): For much of the game he looked off the pace and didn’t pose his usual threat but hugely instrumental in the build-up when his pace took him through the middle before cutting the ball across to Forrest.

FORREST (8): Led the line after Leigh Griffiths failed to win make the starting line up. Was denied a goal by a cracking reflex save from Andre Hansen but seized the moment when he collected from Sinclair and rifled an effort off the crossbar and into the net. Blotted his copybook when he fluffed a chance when straight through on goal.

BITTON (7): On for Sviatchenko as Celtic had to rejig things. Coped well considering that he has not played a tremendous amount of football.

GRIFFITHS (7): On for Hayes just before the hour mark and made a quick impact. Almost added a second goal for Celtic when he had an effort to make it two. Dangerous and threatening going forward but also good at holding the ball up and bringing others into play.

ROGIC (5): On for Armstrong just after Celtic opened the scoring in this game.
