GORDON (6) Gathered a long-range Arnaud Djoum shot early on easily. Was helpless to keep out an Isma Goncalves shot with six minutes remaining. It was the first goal he had let in this season. Pushed a goal-bound Djoum shot wide at the death.

LUSTIG (6) Headed a Christophe Berra delivery into his six yard box out for a corner in the first half. The Swedish left back was untroubled apart from that.

BITTON (7) The central midfielder started at centre half in the absence of both Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko. His defence-splitting pass from deep set up Leigh Griffiths for the opening goal. Looked assured throughout the course of the 90 minutes.

SIMUNOVIC (7) Did well to nod a dangerous Lewis Moore cross into his box clear in the first half. Failed to dispossess Goncalves late on and allowed the Hearts substitute to net a consolation goal for the visitors. But that incident failed to mar another fine personal display.

TIERNEY (6) The Scotland internationalist, arguably the Scottish champions’ outstanding player in their midweek win over Rosenborg, wasn’t as involved as much as he usually is. Still, he worked hard.

BROWN (7) The Celtic captain unfurled the league flag before kick-off. Teed up Callum McGregor before half-time with a cheeky back heel. Denied Don Cowie a shot at goal with a well-timed tackle early in the second half.

NTCHAM (6) The new £4.5 million signing was preferred to Stuart Armstrong, who had been poor over in Norway in midweek, alongside Brown in central midfield. Was tidy enough in possession without being outstanding. Needs games to build up his fitness and improve his sharpness.

FORREST (6) Restored to his favoured berth on the right flank after being moved up front against Rosenborg. Started brightly. But the winger had one of his quieter games.

MCGREGOR (7) Played just off lone striker Griffiths. Should have buried a chance just before half-time. Atoned for that in the second half by supplying Griffiths for his second goal and then netting the fourth himself.

SINCLAIR (7) Turned in the second goal of the game from close range early in the second half after Aaron Hughes had failed to clear a Leigh Griffiths corner kick. Then used his searing pace to skin Jamie Brandon and set up McGregor.

GRIFFITHS (8) Returned to the Celtic starting line-up. Latched onto a Bitton through ball and rounded both Hamilton and Rafal Grzelak to open the scoring in the first half. Netted a diving header in the second. Substituted to a standing ovation.

Substitutes

HAYES (3) Replaced Forrest, who moved up front. On the right flank. Worked hard to add to his side’s tally.

ROGIC (3) Made some nice touches.

ARMSTRONG (2) A late replacement for Ncham. Hardly involved.
