KENNY MILLER admits Rangers could have been out of sight against Motherwell if they had capitalised on their early dominance.

The Light Blues got off to a winning start in the Premiership thanks to a Graham Dorrans double at Fir Park.

The midfielder opened his Gers account after just four minutes and then clinched the points from the penalty spot after Ben Heneghan had levelled for the Steelmen.

And Miller knows it could have been far more comfortable for Pedro Caixinha’s side if they had made the most of an impressive opening period.

He said: “Probably [it was closer than it should have been]. The final third is always where games are won and lost and if we had made better decisions in that 20, 25 minutes, there were three or four occasions where if we had made that right pass and been a bit more clinical then we could have been two or three up.

“That is what happens and you make it hard for yourself. It was a hard fought win, it is always tough to come here. I think there are definitely positives from that first half, some of the play was great and we should have been a couple up.”

The performance of Dorrans was one of the main positives for Caixinha to take from the Well clash as the Gers avoided an early stumble in the top flight.

The 30-year-old has made an immediate impact at Ibrox since signing from Norwich and Miller is confident there is plenty more to come this term.

He said: “Apart from the goals, he is an experienced player and you can see the ability he has got and the control that he has on a game.

“That is why we wanted him here. He has popped up with a couple of goals on the opening day, which is huge for us. I think you will see over the course of the season what a good signing he will be.”
