A trawl through the history books has revealed that Kieran Tierney was beaten to the youngest-ever Celtic captain honour by Roy Aitken.
Ironically Aitken has just been named as new club ambassador for Celtic but it is the former Hoops captain and Scotland internationalist who stays front and centre in the stats queue.
Aitken captained Celtic for the first time in a League Cup game away to Stirling Albion in October 1977 in a game in which he was 18 years and 10 months.
Like Tierney, he marked the occasion with a goal - the winning goal - in a 2-1 victory.
Aitken went on to win six league championships with Celtic, five Scottish Cups and one League Cup and made 672 appearances for the club.
