PEDRO CAIXINHA is confident there is plenty more to come from Rangers after they turned in the best performance of his Ibrox career against Dunfermline.

The Light Blues ran out 6-0 winners on Wednesday night as they booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Betfred Cup.

Rangers will now look to make it two wins from two in the Premiership when they host Hibernian in their first home league outing of the campaign this weekend.

And boss Caixinha is pleased with the progression of his side as they followed up their victory over Motherwell with a comprehensive cup triumph.

He said: “It was definitely the best performance of any team since I came here.

“Regarding the performance, together with the result, together with the control of the game and especially regarding the quality with which we scored our goals.

“It was definitely our best performance. I could watch it, quietly, almost for the entire second half.

“But there is more to come. We are improving game by game and more will come.

“Since Bruno (Alves) and (Graham) Dorrans arrived we have improved and by a few more weeks we will have improved even more.

“It depends on the moment, it depends on whether the team is winning and the confidence is there. At the moment the confidence is there with us.

“But you have seen in the last four games that the team is getting stronger and stronger and that’s something we want to replicate in every game.”

It has been an encouraging few weeks for Caixinha as his summer signings have settled into life at Ibrox and Rangers have started to recover from their Europa League exit.

The Portuguese still has another two players in his sights as he looks to finalise his squad, with Hearts winger Jamie Walker and Kenny McLean of Aberdeen long-standing targets.

But he is relaxed about getting the final deals over the line as the clock ticks down to the closure of the transfer window.

Caixinha said: “I am not worried with that. The board knows what we want, what we need, what we ask for. We still have 20 days in front of us to get what we want.

“I might say yes [it is hard to buy from Scottish clubs]. I might say they are overvalued here in Scotland, but it is the same [in other countries].

“In Portugal, we have the three biggest clubs and they can buy directly. But in Mexico, for example, it was the same.

“If you want a player and the real market value should be, let’s say, £1million, you need £2million for a player with a value of £1million. I think that might happen the same here.”
