JIM DUFFY was pleased with Morton’s second half showing as they came from behind to earn a point against Inverness Caley Thistle.

The Ton found themselves on the back foot after just 19 minutes in the Highlands as defender Gary Warren fired John Robertson’s side into the lead.

But Caley didn’t have it all their own way as the visitors grew into the encounter and eventually emerged with a share of the spoils.

Robert Thomson connected with a Ricki Lamie cross to head the ball beyond keeper Mark Ridgers just six minutes after the restart as he netted his first Championship goal for Duffy’s side.

There was no late winner for the Ton but boss Duffy was satisfied with the efforts of his players and said: “It was the old cliché – a game of two halves. It took 25 minutes before we even got a couple if passes going. We were hanging in.

“But we changed the shape a bit at half-time and, in the second half, I felt we were in control of the game. It’s a very good point for us up here.”

Elsewhere in the Championship, Dumbarton were left frustrated as their second half endeavours came to nothing against Queen of the South.

Callum Fordyce put the Doonhamers on course for victory when he headed home just before the break.

Despite Tom Walsh and Andy Dowie both coming close for the Sons, Gary Naysmith’s side held on to record their second league win of the season.

Dumbarton moved up to sixth spot in the standings after Livingston were beaten by St Mirren but boss Stevie Aitken was left to rue a lack of cutting edge at Palmerston.

He said: “It was frustrating losing a goal when we did, but there were a lot of positives to take from the game also. We just have to find a bit more in the final third, but that will come.”
