Rivaldo Coetzee's imminent arrival from Ajax Cape Town in a deal that could run up to £1m, could pave the way for Erik Sviatchenko's exit from Celtic.

The 20-year-old South African internationalist is preparing for a move to Brendan Rodgers' team after his club confirmed via social media yesterday that they had accepted an offer from Celtic.

That may well allow Sviatchenko, who is currently injured, to head back to his homeland with Copenhagen interested in securing his services.

Sviatchenko has featured only sporadically under Rodgers since the turn of the year.

Dedryck Boyata and Jozo Simunovic are currently the two favoured centre-halves and it is understood that Celtic have not received an offer from Burnley for the latter over the last few days.

Coatzee has been capped 22 times for his country so will bring substantial international experience to the Parkhead side, despite the fact he is only 20.
