Celtic have helped Scottish football by getting into the group stage of the Champions League.
The money the other clubs get is not insignificant – indeed it’s massive for a lot of them.
That’s great, and Rangers have done it in the past. They are looking like a side more comfortable in Europe now, and for the younger Celtic fans it is probably the best time of their lives.
They have helped the Scottish coefficient too, and you have to say they have done fantastically well for the game here.
But, as a Rangers fan, I’m absolutely gutted! If I’m being honest, most Rangers fans will be hoping Celtic lose every game, and if the shoe was on the other foot, it would be exactly the same.
In truth the £30million they will bank doesn’t matter much to Rangers.
Celtic probably already have about £100m in the bank when you take into account the money they have raised in transfer fees and sell-on clauses.
And they have more sellable assets in the likes of Olivier Ntcham, who looks a real player. So, it’s just going to go on and on.
Rangers would be the only ones to come close in terms of money, and even they are miles away anyway.
