MY heart will always say a Rangers win in an Old Firm game but my head says that it will be Celtic that emerge victorious at Ibrox tomorrow.

Pedro Caixinha is being judged game-by-game and only a small percentage of the fans will give Rangers a chance of getting the three points.

Getting the win on Tuesday night was great and the players will be on a high after that. But there is a difference between playing Partick Thistle and playing in an Old Firm game, especially after losing the last one 5-1 on their own ground.

I don’t see Rangers going hung-ho. If they try and go man for man with Celtic, they will get beaten, simply because Celtic have got the better players.

Pedro has to learn from the last game and he will know that Celtic can cause real problems with their pace and their attacking threat.

So he has got to be looking at a 4-5-1 with the two wide men in midfield helping out defensively. Rangers can’t afford to give Celtic space and allow them to play.

It is imperative that Rangers defend well first and foremost and try and stop Celtic playing from middle to front. If they can do that, then they have a chance.

They have to defend better than they have been, they have to keep the ball a lot better than they have and they need to be more clinical than they have been.

Up front, Alfredo Morelos has shown that he can score goals out of nothing and if he gets a chance on Saturday then he will have to take it.

Rangers are going into the game and nobody gives them a hope. That should be a motivation for them to go out and prove everybody wrong.

Celtic are far ahead of everybody in Scotland, but anything can happen over the course of 90 minutes and not all favourites win every game.

Rangers will have to do something special to get something out of it, though, and every one of them will have to play well. If Celtic are in the mood and they are in form, then there is only one winner.

I am biting my tongue when I say that, but you have to call it as you see it. It is not easy to say I don’t think we will win but it is clear that Celtic are huge favourites for this one, and rightly so.

You can never say never in this game, but if you were a betting man, there is only one place where your money is going.

Rangers have to go into the game with a positive mindset. If you are a player, you can’t go onto the park thinking you are not going to win. If you do, why are you there at all?

You have to believe in your ability and believe that you can go out there and get something from the game. If they could, what a huge result it would be for the players, and the manager.

Everyone has written Rangers off already and people are saying that Pedro will be under pressure if he doesn’t get a result. But most already have us beaten anyway.

The Celtic games are important and always will be. It doesn’t matter where you are in the league or how far behind you are, the Old Firm fixtures are huge.

But Rangers had to prove this season that they could win games against the likes of Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs and keep themselves up there with Celtic.

Nobody has beaten Celtic in 56 domestic matches now so it is going to be as hard a task for Pedro as it is for Derek McInnes or Tommy Wright at St Johnstone.

Very few people will give Rangers a chance this weekend but the talk should be about the game rather than the manager.

You have got to give him until the end of the season and I will always say that. Even if they get beat by Celtic, you have to see how they do in the four games against Aberdeen, the three with Hearts and Hibs, how they do against the teams that they dropped too many points to last season.

If the form against those teams changes and they are up there and finish second, that is an improvement on where they were in May and that is what this season was about.

The Celtic games are really important, of course they are, and you want to do well in them. But losing the Old Firm fixtures was only part of the problem for Rangers last season.

We were dropping points to everybody last year and we can’t do that this time around. We need to be more consistent week in week out.

The board have brought Pedro in and they have given him money to bring a new team of players in. So how on earth can you sack him if he gets beat this weekend?

It won’t happen. He will get until the end of the season.

Yes, he will take some criticism if we lose at Ibrox but I don’t think we will take a real doing like we did the last time. I think we will match Celtic.

I do think Celtic will win the game, though. Hopefully Rangers can prove me, and a lot of other people, wrong tomorrow afternoon.
