BRENDAN Rodgers' team selection for Celtic's trip to Ibrox on Saturday will depend on Rangers' injury situation, according to Ally McCoist.

Pedro Caixinha has concerns to deal with ahead of this weekend's showdown, with captain Lee Wallace ruled out and doubts over the fitness of defenders Bruno Alves and Declan John.

The Gers pair limped off during Tuesday night's Betfred Cup quarter-final win against Partick Thistle, leading to a senior debut for youngster Ross McCrorie.

And former Rangers striker McCoist believes that a shakeup at the back for the Light Blues could impact the way Rodgers sets up his team for the first Old Firm clash of the season.

When asked about the Hoops' formation for the game on BT Sport, he said: "I think it will depend greatly on Rangers’ injury situation.

“I think Brendan will look at Rangers injury problems and that might affect his team.

"In the respect that a back-three, if it’s not done correctly, against better opposition will give you serious problems.

"That’s why in Europe I don’t think Celtic will go with a back-three, but domestically I think they can go with a back-three against any team in the country.”
