RANGERS manager Pedro Caixinha furiously squared up to Celtic coach John Kennedy in the Ibrox tunnel at half-time of Saturday’s Old Firm game.

We can reveal the heated argument, which began between the Portuguese and Scott Brown on the touchline, continued away from the cameras and angry words were exchanged between both camps as the players made their way back to their respective dressing rooms.

Caixinha had complained to Brown about a supposed elbow on Alfredo Morelos and the Rangers manager and Celtic captain went eyeball to eyeball as the first-half ended, with other players then getting involved in the spat.

And in the tunnel, Caixinha took exception to Kennedy and had to be calmed down as tempers frayed.

Brown took to Instagram after the game and posted a picture of Caixinha and himself with a message which read: “When u should just listen and no spk.”

Tom Rogic, who scored Celtic’s first goal in the 2-0 win, also criticised Caixinha's behaviour and intimated that his own manager, Brendan Rodgers, would have too much class to get involved with an opposition player.

Asked whether the half-time bust-up had galvanised the Celtic players, who utterly dominated the second-half, the Aussie said: “I don’t know. That’s up to him (Caixinha). You certainly wouldn’t see our manager getting involved in anything like that.

“I think that maybe says a little bit about their situation and where they are.”

And when asked whether Rangers are closer to their rivals following a summer which saw them sign eleven new players, Rogic said: “That is for other people to judge. We just focus on ourselves. I think that is pretty evident. It speaks for itself.

“I don’t know. They have brought in a lot of players, but for us it is not too important to worry about the players they have brought in. We just focus on ourselves.

“We feel as if we are getting better game after game and improving in all areas of the park. That is the most important thing. If we can keep doing that we will keep winning.”

Celtic’s attention now turns to Wednesday night and their trip to Brussels where they will face Anderlecht.

For the Parkhead men to finish third in their group, which would see them enter the Europa League after Christmas, they really could do with at the least avoiding defeat in a game which in many ways is even bigger than Saturday’s derby for the club.

Rogic said: “It has been a massive week for the club.

"Firstly, getting into the semi-final of the Betfred Cup. That is a competition we want to do well in.

"Then we had the match on Saturday. It carries a lot of importance for the club, the fans, everyone. They will be followed by what is obviously a massive game in the Champions League.

"The games don’t stop. That is part of being at this club and being successful. We look forward to Wednesday now.

"We will recover and prepare ourselves for that match.

“The PSG game was certainly a learning curve. For us as a team we want to be successful in that tournament as well and progress further than we did last year. It is another massive, massive game.

“We got into every match in the Champions League, regardless of the opposition, wanting to compete and wanting to be successful. So it’s no different on Wednesday.”
