CELTIC defender Jozo Simunovic has picked up an injury while on international duty with Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The Bosnian Football Association confirmed on Tuesday that the centre-back will not be available for the Russia 2018 double-header against Belgium and Estonia. 

Brendan Rodgers' side have already been cursed by defensive problems this season, with Simunovic, Erik Sviatchenko and Dedryck Boyata all facing spells on the sidelines.

And team doctor Reuf Karabeg revealed that the Hoops man has suffered a hamstring tear ahead of his country's qualifying clashes.

"Our manager, Mehmed Bazdarevic and I talked to Jozo's doctor at Celtic and we got access to all the documentation on the injury's condition," he said. 

"The findings of the scan clearly shows he has a rupture of the hamstring and a hematoma four centimetres long."

Celtic have some key clashes immediately after the international break, with a Premiership clash against Dundee followed up by a Champions League trip to Bayern Munich, League Cup semi-final against Hibernian and league visit to joint league leaders Aberdeen
