CELTIC’S defensive injury woes may have worsened after it emerged that Mikael Lustig was forced to sit out of a Sweden training session due to a knock.

Swedish media outlet Afdonbladset has reported that the Hoops right-back missed a session through injury, sparking fears around Parkhead with a Champions League trip to Bayern Munich just around the corner.

The news arrives a day after it was confirmed by the Bosnian FA that Jozo Simunovic would be sidelined for both of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s World Cup qualifying matches.

Celtic face a packed schedule after the international break, facing league clashes against Dundee and Aberdeen, a European trip to Bayern and a Betfred Cup semi-final against Hibernian within 11 days.

Brendan Rodgers will anxiously await news of the severity of the injuries after having to field the inexperienced Kristoffer Ajer and midfielder Nir Bitton in central defence already this season.

Midfielders Scott Brown and Stuart Armstrong are also doubts for the trip to Germany after withdrawing from Scotland duty due to hamstring and calf problems.
