GRAHAM DORRANS admits everyone at Ibrox is under pressure to perform as Rangers look to kick-start their campaign against Kilmarnock.

The Light Blues suffered another big-game defeat on Sunday as they went down 2-0 to Motherwell in the semi-finals of the Betfred Cup.

Boss Pedro Caixinha has come under increasing scrutiny in recent days and after accepting the blame for the Hampden no-show he then claimed his players had embarrassed the club with a poor performance against the Steelmen.

Rangers are six points adrift of Celtic and Aberdeen in the Premiership standings and Dorrans knows only positive results will ease the weight on the shoulders of Caixinha and his squad.

He said: “Listen, not winning games at this club brings pressure on everyone – the players, the staff, everyone.

“We need to go out and put that right and win games and take the pressure off. This game is all about winning so ultimately we need to win games.

“I think it is collectively the whole group’s responsibility – the staff, the players, we all have to accept that as a group it wasn’t good enough.

“We realise that. We came in [on Monday] and you could feel off every single player and staff that what happened wasn’t acceptable and hopefully we can put that right.

“We need to take the pressure off everyone. We are under pressure.

“We need to go and win the game or we are going to fall more points behind our rivals. The pressure is there as a group so we need to take the pressure off everyone.

“It is not just the manager that is under pressure, we are under pressure to go and win games as well. If we don’t we are going to fall too far behind our rivals and that won’t be acceptable.”

The defeat to Motherwell was another damaging blow for Caixinha following a poor start to the campaign.

After crashing out of the Europa League to Progres Niederkorn, Premiership points have been dropped to Hibernian, Hearts, Partick Thistle and Celtic.

And midfielder Dorrans admits the Gers have to start rising to the occasion after a succession of let downs when it has mattered most on Caixinha’s watch.

“I don’t know,” he said when asked what the lack of big game wins is down to.

“We are working hard. We are training leading up to these games and we have got a plan, but at the minute the plans aren’t coming off.

“We haven’t done very well in big games. Hopefully we can put that right.

“We need to just keep working hard and stick together. It is difficult to put my finger on what is going wrong at the minute.

“But, like I said, we are working hard and trying to put things right on the training pitch.

“Unfortunately, at the minute we have lost Old Firm games and cup semi-finals which is unacceptable.

“No, I don’t think [leadership is an issue]. We have got experienced boys on the pitch – myself, Bruno [Alves], Tav (James Tavernier), people who have been here for a number of years now. I don’t believe that leadership is lacking on the pitch, no.”
