Rangers (4-4-2)

Wes Foderingham. Recorded his first clean sheet since October 13 against St Johnstone, and only really made to work for his money as Thistle threw caution to the wind in the last half hour. Picked up a knock during the second period, but nothing serious. 6

James Tavernier. Untroubled enough by the likes of Conor Sammon and Stevie Lawless to push on with freedom and cause problems. Plenty of dangerous crosses, one of which was just out of reach of Miller. 7

Ross McCrorie. Memorable first senior goal and man of the match honours for a 19-year-old from Ayrshire who is starting to look the part. Quick, blessed with good physique, and a decent passer, he got the nod over the fit-again Bruno Alves and thoroughly merited his manager’s faith. 8

Danny Wilson. Dumped from the first team rather unceremoniously by Pedro Caixinha but may be playing his way back in. Comfortable afternoon, at least Kris Doolan entered the fray late on, for a player who always uses the ball well from the back. 6

Declan John. The Welsh left back is another man with poise in possession. A progressive figure who was spotted as frequently yesterday on the edge of the opposition penalty area as his own. 7

Daniel Candeias. The pacy Portuguese winger is one of the few success stories of Pedro Caixinha’s summer recruitment drive and he contributed here. Short corner routine and cross was perfect for McCrorie’s opener, then steered in the second after good work from Holt. 7

Jason Holt. Unflashy, grafting midfielder is another man whose performances suggest he should have featured more regularly under Pedro Caixinha. Drove into space well for the strike which led to the second goal, causing Partick’s defensive cover to part alarmingly. 7

Ryan Jack. Inclusion in Malky Mackay’s Scotland squad this week is a source of controversy for some but this was a performance which showcased what he had to offer. All the usual graft plus tested Cerny with an early effort and showed creativity with smart pass to Windass. 7

Josh Windass. Mixed bag from the wide midfielder, with fresh air swipes and missed chances in the opening stages. Gambled in behind the Partick defence for his killer goal just after half time and got his reward when Jordan Turnbull’s mistake allowed him to run through and finish. 6

Alfredo Morelos. Another decent shift from the stock little Colombian, but little sights of goal other than a high cross-shot from an angle which was tipped over by Tomas Cerny. A key part of the future no matter who is the new manager, received a standing ovation when replaced. 7

Kenny Miller. Dropped as deep as the midfield holding role at times, giving Rangers an extra man in there, before ghosting into dangerous areas when the ball arrived into the box. Not a headline act like last week against Hearts but still an effective performer. 7

Substitutes:

Niko Kranjcar (for Windass 69). Veteran Croat appeared understandably rusty as he got the last 20 minutes, his first appearance since September. One shot wide and how Rangers could do with him back to his best. 4

Ryan Hardie (for Morelos 85). Graeme Murty gave the youth academy graduate the last five minutes but he scarcely had time to get involved. 3
