Wes Foderingham: Not a great deal to do other than pick the ball out of the net. Was left exposed for Hamilton’s first after McCrorie’s error, though may have done more to push Templeton wide. No chance with Lyon’s second from close range. 5

James Tavernier: Not his usual attacking influence down the right and posted missing at Hamilton’s second goal as Docherty exposed the space in behind on the Hamilton left. 5

Ross McCrorie: Nightmare moment for the young defender as his woeful attempt at a pass back to Foderingham fell miles short, presenting Templeton with a gilt-edged chance for the opener which he duly gobbled up. Did well to compose himself after that, but damage had been done. 4

Danny Wilson: Allowed Lyon to get away from him as Hamilton hit Rangers on the counter for the killer second, failing to spot the midfielder’s run at first and then being outpaced as he tried to scramble back goal-side. 5

Lee Hodson: In for the ill Declan John, but couldn’t connect with Windass on the left flank for Rangers and was quiet going forward. Not lacking in effort, and almost got back to clear Templeton’s goal off the line. 5

Daniel Candeias: Rangers’ biggest threat on the day, particularly in the opening 25 minutes when he was causing all sorts of problems for the Hamilton defence. On another day could have had three or four assists to his name, creating openings for Windass, Miller and Morelos that were squandered. 7

Ryan Jack: Was excellent in the first half, showing strength in midfield and being neat and tidy on the ball. Was dragged out of position though as Rangers chased the game, and his poor cross that was easily cleared led to Hamilton’s second. 6

Jason Holt: Picked up a booking for a wild lunge in the first half, but continued to put in tackles and work away without having too much of an influence on the match. 5

Josh Windass: Missed a great early chance and was let down all day by his decision-making. Has all the raw attributes to be a real player, but as happens all too often, just failed to put it together on the day. Got in good positions, but no end product. 5

Kenny Miller: Opened up his body too much to put an early chance wide and then was dragged deep all too often, failing to provide the guile from those positions to open up the Accies defence. Not at his best. 5

Alfredo Morelos: Oh dear. El Buffalo failed to find the net for the ninth match in a row, passing up a series of golden chances that he was gobbling up earlier in the season. Worst miss came when presented with a simple headed opportunity in the first half, but the ball came off his face, bounced down and over the bar. Looks bereft of confidence. 4

SUBSTITUTES:

Ryan Hardie: Thrown on with 25 minutes to go as Morelos was put out of his misery, but failed to provide a spark. 3

Eduardo Herrera: Came on alongside Hardie for Miller, but struggled to provide a threat. 3

Aaron Nemane: Got last few minutes and showed a couple of nice touches. 3
