FORMER Celtic players Chris Sutton and Neil Lennon have accused Scott Sinclair of diving to win a penalty during the Bhoys' Betfred Cup final victory over Motherwell

The Hoops successfully defended the trophy with a 2-0 win at Hampden Park thanks to goals from James Forrest and Moussa Dembele.

However, referee Craig Thomson came under fire for his decision to award Celtic a penalty and send off Steelmen defender Cedric Kipre, with replays showing minimal contact before Sinclair went down.

Dembele converted the resulting penalty on the hour mark, ending the match as a contest for the final 30 minutes.

Sutton and Lennon were covering the game as pundits for BT Sport and hit out at the winger for going down too easily.

Sutton said: "He's dived. But where are you on this, Neil? There is a slight touch, but would you want your player to go down?"

Lennon responded: "For me, it's not a penalty and it's certainly not a red card.

"I don't like to see that, especially from Celtic players - very, very good Celtic players. It leaves a bitter taste."
