SCOTT SINCLAIR was adamant he won a "definite penalty" despite the controversy surrounding the cup final's biggest talking point.
Some Motherwell players even suggested Craig Thomson asked the Celtic man if he'd dived when Cedric Kipre put his arm on him.
The referee pointed to the spot right away and enraged Motherwell even more by sending off their player.
However, Sinclair was unrepentant and said: "I got through and felt some contact, I felt he pulled me back, and I’ve gone down. It was definitely a penalty. I’ve no qualms about that.
“Was it harsh on him to be sent off? That’s up to the referee. If he didn’t pull me then I think I’m through on goal one-v-one. So that’s the ref’s decision but it’s definitely a penalty.”
Celtic didn't have it all their own way. Motherwell's tactics worked in the first-half but yet again Sinclair and his team-mates found a way to win.
Sinclair said: "We need to be patient in these types of games. We are not always going to get an early goal. It might take to half-time to create and once we get one we can usually kick on and getting a couple more. It ended 2-0 and that’s a great result.”
"We have confidence. This comes from the character in the whole squad. We are hungry for success, we’re determined to do well and get our hands on another trophy."
The bad news for the rest is this is a team for whom winning is anything but a chore. They are far from bored with their success.
Sinclair, in way of explaining Celtic's ruthlessness, said: "I think it’s just the hunger in the whole squad. There’s such a togetherness.
"Everything about Celtic football club – we are so hungry. You can see it right through. We are never slack. We always give it 100 per cent and always want to give more.
"From the start of the season up until now, we’ve been getting better and better. Winning games and getting trophies is always enjoyable.
"The longer the run goes, the more reluctant we are to give it up."
