RANGERS interim manager Graeme Murty says there has been movement in the club's search for a new boss.

The Ibrox Under-20s coach has been in charge of the Gers first team for the last four matches since Pedro Caixinha was fired over a month ago.

But ahead of his side's Premiership meeting with Aberdeen in Glasgow on Wednesday, Murty revealed that progress has been made in the hunt for a new permanent boss.

He said: "I've discussed with [director of football] Mark Allen and I've discussed with [managing director] Stuart Robertson that this process is ongoing.

"There has been movement but we're not quite there yet, and I think that to get the next five, six, seven years right, we need to take our time now to get this appointment right.

"If we take a little bit more time now to get this appointment right, we actually get the next five years of progress and secure the future of this football club at the top of the league, and that's crucial."

Rangers have suffered two disapponting results in a row, firstly losing at home to Hamilton Academical in the league for the first time since 1926 before falling to a 2-1 loss away to relegation battling Dundee last Friday.

The Light Blues can reduce the gap to second-placed Aberdeen to two points with a win tomorrow and Murty revealed that Bruno Alves will be available for the clash, although striker Alfredo Morelos is a doubt.

"Bruno is fit and available for selection," he said.

"Alfredo is in the care of our physios and it's too soon to make a call on him."
