Dundee boss Neil McCann expects to face a focused Aberdeen side on Friday night despite uncertainty over the future of Derek McInnes.

McInnes and assistant Tony Docherty have been absent from training for two days as they discuss their future with chairman Stewart Milne following an approach from Rangers on Tuesday, which was rebuffed by the club.

Under-20s boss Paul Sheerin has been preparing the Dons for their trip to Dens Park along with first-team coach Barry Robson.

But McCann, whose team have picked up seven points from their last three matches, does not expect the speculation over his former Rangers team-mate to affect the Aberdeen players on the night.

"I couldn't care less who comes here in the dugout," he said. "Derek is a former team-mate of mine and a friend, but it's the same group of players and that's what makes the difference.

"I expect Aberdeen to be fully professional - they have a really experienced group who have tasted success with silverware and they have been consistently good.

"What happens when you have a group of players like that, no matter what happens behind the scenes at management level they can probably get themselves going.

"I don't really care what their mindset is, as long as ours is right."

Sheerin has suggested that a decision on the future of McInnes is imminent but McCann does not believe it will have a significant bearing on the game as Dundee look to follow up wins over Rangers and Ross County.

"I don't think it has any relevance because they are an experienced group, that have shown they can do the business on the pitch," he said.

"I don't see any disadvantage or advantage whatsoever in Derek McInnes' situation.

"What I see is that my group are so hungry to get on to the pitch because they just want to carry on that good feeling at the club at the minute."
