CELTIC are set to receive a cash boost from UEFA for reaching last season’s Champions League group stages.

European football's governing body announced on Tuesday that they will be redistributing all fines imposed for breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations to clubs who participated in the Champions League and Europa League during the 2016/17 campaign.

Aberdeen, Hibernian and Hearts will receive a smaller amount due to their participation in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League.

A total of €6,363,000 – around £5,591,000 – was withheld last term, 80 per cent of which will be paid out between teams that made it to the group stages of Europe’s top two club competitions and 20 per cent of which will be shared between teams eliminated during the qualifying rounds.

Celtic were one of 65 clubs to take part in the group stages and will receive approximately €78,300 (£68,803).

A total of 149 clubs including Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts were knocked out during qualifying and they will receive a payment of around €8,540 (£7,501) each.

Clubs with ongoing settlement agreements or under FFP disciplinary measures last season were not entitled to receive any of these amounts.
