BARRY Ferguson has admitted he is disappointed that Rangers are not showing interest in Hibernian midfielder John McGinn.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Celtic after an impressive campaign at the heart of the Hibs midfield and his performances have caught the eye of the former Gers and Scotland skipper.

Speaking on the Peter and Roughie show, Ferguson admitted he would like to see the Ibrox club make an effort to land the ex-St Mirren man.

However, he expressed doubts about whether they will have the financial firepower to compete with the Hoops in a bidding war for the Scotland internationalist.

“I’m just disappointed that Rangers are not even showing an interest,” he said.

“I’d love to see him at Rangers. I’ve always liked him but especially the last three or four months I think he’s come on leaps and bounds.

“I’ve watched his range of passing – that’s something he wasn’t great at. Obviously he’s worked at that on the training ground.

“I think he’s got everything a modern day midfielder needs. I think he can go to the top.

“I would like to stay him stay up here in Scotland. Obviously Celtic have got the money – I don’t know if Rangers have that kind of money to go and sign him. I don’t think he’ll be at Hibs in the summer.”
