IT doesn’t seem too long ago that Leigh Griffiths was the main man at Celtic, leading the line, scoring goals, the first pick for Brendan Rodgers with injury ruling out Moussa Dembele, and, a hero for Scotland with a couple of great goals against England.

How quickly things change.

From being number one, Griffiths suddenly finds himself third in the pecking order behind Dembele, and, Odsonne Edouard, who arrived as back up – and has ended up being a key player domestically and in Europe.

It must be really difficult for Leigh to sit, frozen out, and watch these two young Frenchmen fight it out, as to who will play and who gets to come off the bench every week.

But this is something Griffiths has faced before and he came back to prove his manager wrong, because of the way he responded.

What it also showed was that, despite a great many preconceived ideas about Griffiths, he is a grafter, willing to put the work in on the training ground, and play the waiting game until his chance comes again.

Football is full of twists and turns, and he will eventually get an opportunity again – and he will know what to do to get his starting place back for Celtic. Work, graft and fight. He has, after all, done it before.
