GORDON: Hellish afternoon for the Scotland internationalist. Early mix-up that could have been costly and seemed to cement the lack of confidence in his game/ One fingertip save at just 1-0 but roof caved in as further goals rained in. Needlessly conceded penalty when Ross Callachan appeared to be going nowhere. (4)

LUSTIG: A difficult afternoon for the Swedish defender as Celtic’s backline was dragged apart. Tried to get forward in support but movement restricted by Hearts’ pressing. (6)

SIMUNOVIC: All over the place. Couldn’t cope with Kyle Lafferty and slipped in the build-up to Hearts’ third goal to gift the Tynecastle side an easy ride as Celtic were trying to force their way back into proceedings. (4)

BOYATA: Desperately poor afternoon from the Belgian defender. Had a culpable role in both of Hearts’ opening goals with slack passes, firstly to Tiernery and then to McGregor. His afternoon did not improve as the game went on. (4)

TIERNEY: Taken off at the break as Celtic moved to three at the back in a bid to get back into the game. Took a hefty few kicks in the opening period but has looked tired in recent games. (5)

FORREST: Three cracking runs and three good deliveries in the opening period – none of which Leigh Griffiths could take advantage of. One of the more productive players in the Celtic line-up but couldn’t engineer a fightback. (6)

MCGREGOR: Slipped in the build-up to Hearts’ second goal and found himself overrun at times in the middle of the park. Chased and harried but came off second best in too many 50-50s. (5)

BROWN: Showed a bit of fight in the second period as Celtic tried to claw their way back and arguably the Parkhead side’s best player. (6)

NTCHAM: Irked at Sinclair at one point for failing to get back and commit to defensive dirty work but was sacrificed at the break as the athleticism of Stuart Armstrong was favoured. (5)

SINCLAIR: Has toiled for form this season. Couldn’t get into the game and leave any kind of notable mark. (5)

GRIFFITHS: Back in the starting line-up but scorned glorious chance in opening stages when James Forrest found him in space just inside the box. Slipped and hooked erratic shot high and wide. Brought out one save from Jon McLaughlin in the second period but other than that did not trouble the Hearts defence. (5)

ARMSTRONG: Brought on after the break to drive at Hearts but game changed again when Tynecastle side netted a third shortly after the restart. Full of running and endeavour but little real penetration. (5)

DEMBELE: On for Tierney as Celtic went to two up front. Manfully tried to gee up those around him after Hearts had hit their fourth but had no joy in front of goal. (5)

EDOUARD: Introduced as Celtic pushed for a goal that would spark them into life. (4)
