Serena Williams has conquered tennis courts around the world and fought her way back to good health after life-threatening illnesses – but she was left scratching her head over an altogether different problem.
The 23-time singles grand slam winner admitted her hardest challenge to date was something many new parents will be able to relate to: working out how to assemble their child’s pram.
Williams, 36, gave birth to daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian on September 1 last year after winning the 2017 Australian Open while nine weeks pregnant.
The American suffered blood clots in her lungs following her child’s birth – a reocurrence of a life-threatening condition which left her “on her death bed” in March 2011.
But that appears to have been a breeze compared with putting together her baby’s pram.
Williams withdrew from this year’s Australian Open after deciding to give herself more time before making a full comeback.
