GRAEME MURTY believes the two-pronged attack of Alfredo Morelos and Jason Cummings could go from strength to strength this season.

The pair were handed starts and found the score sheet as Rangers moved into the last eight of the Scottish Cup with a 6-1 victory over Ayr United on Sunday.

Morelos netted his 14th and 15th goals of the campaign after missing a first half sitter at Somerset Park, while Cummings doubled his tally for the Gers with an improvised finish from inside the area.

Murty has switched between tactical systems throughout the season and could utilise two of his cup goal heroes on a more regular basis this term.

He told RangersTV: “It is in its infancy and it is a start. I just wanted to see if it would work and if they would complement one another, and I thought at times they made the same runs as they are a similar type of player.

“But, we showed we have got people who can score goals, and if we can get both of them understanding one another, and we can get a better understanding with them, then it is something I wouldn’t be afraid to do again.”
