It is a record that no Scotland manager has matched before or since, giving Alex McLeish a 70 per cent win rate in charge of the national team before his departure for Birmingham City.
However, the former Rangers boss’ spell was not enough to see Scotland qualify for Euro 2008, with painful defeats to Georgia and Italy ultimately ending the nation’s hopes.

McLeish returned to the Scotland hotseat today, 11 years on from the memorable exploits of his first spell.
He took over from Walter Smith four games into the qualifying campaign, with the Tartan Army having recorded wins against Faroe Islands, Lithuania and France before falling to defeat away to Ukraine.
