ON-FORM Scott Allan today refused to accept his Celtic career is over - and vowed to give Brendan Rodgers food for thought with his performances for Hibs.

Allan, who has returned to the Easter Road club on loan until the end of the season, was once again superb in the 2-0 win over Aberdeen on Saturday.

The 26-year-old believes playing alongside Dylan McGeouch and John McGinn is bringing out the best in him and is keen for his run to continue.

The midfielder, whose contract at Parkhead runs until 2019, is still convinced he can perform at the highest level in future.

“The balance in our midfield is perfect,” he said. “The three of us (Allan, McGeouch and McGinn) bounce off each other, we’re all comfortable on the ball and we all have our own strengths.

“When you play in that No10 role, some things won’t come off, but it only needs one of them to work and it can change the whole game. I just want to enjoy football and that’s happening here.

“As for what happens at Celtic, whether the door can open for me, that’s something you’d need to ask the manager there. I just want to focus on what happens at Hibs until the end of the season then take it from there.”

Asked if he could play at the top level in future, Allan said: “I believe so. In terms of creativity, Aberdeen had a guy following me about the park for the first 45 minutes and I still made things happens. That’s my game and I can play it as well as anybody.

“The manager (Neil Lennon) makes everything simple, black and white. You just play your game, be free. It was like that under Alan Stubbs as well and it suits me fine.”

Allan received a standing ovation from the Hibs support when he was substituted towards the end of the Ladbrokes Premiership win.

The former Scotland Under-21 player believes he can win over the fans who were unconvinced about the merits of the Championship champions taking him on loan.

“Receptions like the one I got on Saturday are what you play football for,” he said. “I’d say the fans were maybe 50-50 about me coming back here, so I want to excite them and get them all onside. For me, I just want to be consistent and that’ll hopefully win them over.

“We’re really building momentum here. We’ve got a tough one at Kilmarnock next and we’ll be looking for another three points.

“When we went two up here, it felt so comfortable. I never saw us conceding. We were all brave on the ball and the team with more players like that usually end up winning.”
