GRAEME MURTY reckons Rangers’ in-form forward line can hurt anyone in the Premiership after seeing his side hit the goal trail in the last week.

The Light Blues have netted eleven times in their wins over Ayr United and Hamilton Accies as they have moved into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup and regained second spot in the Premiership standings.

Josh Windass hit a hat-trick at the SuperSeal Stadium, while Alfredo Morelos and Jamie Murphy were also on target and Daniel Candeias produced another impressive performance on the right flank.

Murty said: “I think we didn’t quite get the balance right between wanting to play out at the start and being penetrative and controlling the game.

“But in terms of balance on the pitch, I thought too many people at the start of the game were too erratic in their positioning and wanted to make good runs and break lines, but not necessarily at the right time. I think our game management needs to be better.

“But if it does come, and it will come because we will work on it extremely hard, when we do break forward and we do attack, the pace and the quality that we possess, as I have said all the way through, I think now can damage anyone in this league.

“We have to make sure we understand the right times to be expressive and open and the right time just to shut it down a little bit and be a bit more controlled and structured and ordered.”

It wasn’t a completely satisfactory Sunday at the office for Murty as his side conceded three times against Accies.

But the Ibrox boss was delighted with a free-flowing attacking performance from the Gers as they eventually turned on the style.

He told RangersTV: “I thought our chance creation was very good and some of our stuff when we moved the ball really quickly was good, and I thought particularly, the fourth goal was a really good example of what I’d like the team to do and what I would like us to be.

“We were slick in possession and brave playing out from the back, playing through lines really well with minimal touches. It was brilliant creativity from Jamie Murphy and a clinical finish.

“I think it’s as good a goal as I have seen – just a team goal, and just the quality of it was breath-taking for me. As I said, the power we possess going forward was really good for me.

“In terms of our ability to create chances, on a pitch which is difficult, I was really pleased with that and I actually think our game at Ibrox could have looked like earlier in the season if we had possessed more of a clinical nature which we had on Sunday.”
