DE VRIES: Nightmare night for the Celtic goalkeeper. Left exposed for the opening goal but conceded a cheap second when he was caught off guard by a long range effort that he really ought to have held. 3

LUSTIG: Ought to have done better with Celtic’s third goal as he sensed the danger far too late. Terrible defending as he allowed Aleksandr Kokorin to sneak in at his back and put the game entirely outwith Celtic’s reach. One of the most experienced players within the Parkhead side ranks, the Swede needed to produce a bigger performance. 4

AJER: Ill at ease given the manner in which Celtic were repeatedly exposed. Gifted possession on a couple of occasions but could have expected to be guided through the game by his more experienced colleagues. 5

SIMUNOVIC: Caught cold by Branislav Ivanovic in the opening minutes. Switched off to gift a free header and with that early goal conceded, Celtic lost all composure. Was caught again for the third goal too when he was caught wrongsided and could well have conceded a penalty in the build-up. 4

TIERNEY: Tried hard but unlike last week when the bulk of his work was done in advanced positions he was repeatedly dragged back to help shore up Celtic's porous defence. 5

FORREST: Like Tierney, he rarely had the chance to test Zenit in attacking sense as he was forced to sit back and help out the defence. Replaced by Musonda as the game ebbed to a close. 5

NTCHAM: Claim to fame was that at least he managed to get a shot on target but nowhere near as influential as the opening leg. Chasing shadows for much of the game. 5

BROWN: Could not exert the same influence on proceedings that he did last week. Forced to sit very deep and in the process could not dictate Celtic's tempo. Visibly frustrated at times. 5

KOUASSI: Booked in the opening period. Toiled throughout the first period to get a toehold in the middle of the park and was no real surprise when he was hooked at the interval. 4

MCGREGOR: Struggled to make the runs that proved so effective last week. Couldn’t support Dembele the way he had and game passed him by. 4

DEMBELE: Frustrated at the lack of service coming in from the wide areas. Too static at times but received very little service. 4

ROGIC: Took over from Kouassi at the break as Celtic looked to inject some life into their performance. Involved immediately with a shot well over the bar but struggled to put any kind of stamp on proceedings. 4

SINCLAIR: Stood on the touchline waiting his arrival as Zenit netted their third. Game over and done with by the time he got on. 2

MUSONDA: On for the latter stages but no chance to do anything. 2
