Brendan Rodgers has insisted that people will see the best of Celtic now that they are on an even playing field.

The Parkhead side are fully focused on their domestic campaign after exiting the Europa League last week, something that Rodgers believes will enable Celtic to ramp up their league performances.

There has been some chat of a potential title race and Rodgers believes that there is pressure now on those round about Celtic.

"It was a fantastic win for us,” he said. “We're on an even playing field now with most of the other teams, 10 games to go.

"Some teams around us have been on holiday for a year with virtually one game a week. We've dealt with everything up until this point now.

"With 10 games to go we can really focus and concentrate domestically on what has been a really great season so far.

"One or two teams around us have got pressure now, when they've been playing with no pressure a lot of the season.

"So we look forward to finishing off the season well."

Meanwhile, Rodgers has also praises strikers Moussa dembele and Odsonne Edouard for their part in the win over Aberdeen yesterday, the club’s 10th consecutive win for Celtic over the Pittodrie side.

“Moussa is a big game player,” said the Hoops boss. “He comes alive in the big games. It was a wonderful cross from James Forrest and it was a great header at the back post.”

Edouard came off the bench as Celtic looked to seal the win and his part in setting up Kieran Tierney’s strike was not lost on Rodgers.

“From the clearance young Odsonne took a great touch,” he said. “Lots of players would just hook that on and give the ball away. He showed great composure to play it out and the speed of the four players breaking forward was great.

“Kieran won the race. He showed why he’s officially the quickest player in the squad and produced a wonderful finish.

“It was great desire from him - and all of them - to get there and finish with such power.”

And Rodgers was also enthused by the performance of Scott Brown. The midfielder was the recipient of a dangerous lunge from Aberdeen sub Sam Cosgrove but seemed to relish the fracas.

“Scott is a big player, especially in those moments,” said Rodgers. “When it goes to 10 men he revels in it even more. Browny is a brilliant leader. It was a naughty challenge on him from the boy who got sent off. But he takes it, shrugs it off and gets back up again to dominate the game.

“He’s a big game player and showed it again.”

Meanwhile, Rodgers has confirmed that the Parkhead side remain keen to keep Tom Rogic at the club. There were reports this weekend from Australia that the playmaker has knocked back Celtic’s initial contract extension offer, but Rodgers expects further negotiations to be conducted.

“It will always be between the club and the players’ representatives but he’s got a year and a half left here,” he said.

“He’s been brilliant in my time here and we want to keep him. It will be ongoing with him and his representatives.”
