WES FODERINGHAM 7 Made what turned out to be two crucial stops in the first half as he denied Lafferty and Callachan. Rarely troubled after that as Hearts struggled to pose an attacking threat.

JAMES TAVERNIER 7 Partnership with Candeias has been crucial for Rangers this term and the pair linked well once again down the right. Wasn’t really tested in a defensive sense.

DAVID BATES 7 Faced a tough task up against Lafferty on his return to Ibrox and the Northern Irishman got the better of him on a couple of occasions. Solid enough overall, though, and will be pleased with a clean sheet.

RUSSELL MARTIN 7 Handled a relatively shot-shy Hearts forward line to earn his third shut-out in Light Blue. His biggest contribution came at the other end as he converted Candeias’ cross to clinch all three points late on.

DECLAN JOHN 7 The presence of Murphy has certainly helped him at left-back and that understanding continues to grow. Always keen to get forward when he could.

SEAN GOSS 7 Forced McLaughlin into the first of several impressive stops with an early effort and was a key influence throughout in the middle of the park. Barely put a foot wrong or misplaced a pass.

GREG DOCHERTY 8 Got a standing ovation from the Ibrox crowd after the best performance of his Rangers career to date. Gave Graeme Murty’s side energy in midfield and set Murphy clear with a terrific pass for the opening goal.

DANIEL CANDEIAS 8 Added another assist to his credit as he set up Martin for the clincher with just a couple of minutes left. Industrious and creative on the flank as he caught the eye once again.

JOSH WINDASS 6 The midfielder had netted nine times in his previous five games but spurned a handful of chances at Ibrox as he struggled to make an impact. A rare off-day for one of the Gers’ in-form players.

JAMIE MURPHY 8 Showed great awareness and a cool head to weave his way round the Hearts defence and score his first Ibrox goal. Was Rangers’ most potent attacking threat as he shone on the left flank.

ALFREDO MORELOS 6 Didn’t get the rewards that his efforts perhaps merited. Couldn’t convert the half chances that came his way but still played his part for the Gers.

Substitutes:

JASON CUMMINGS (for Morelos) 4 Not given much time to get up to speed and into the game but was always trying to get involved in the final third.

JASON HOLT (for Docherty) 3 On for the closing stages as he helped Rangers secure the win and see the afternoon out with relative ease in the end.
