It was fitting that Kieran Tierney should be the man to score Celtic’s 100th goal of the season.

The Hoops full-back lashed a ferocious finish to give Celtic a win that protects their 9-point advantage at the top of the table with 10 games left to play.

The Parkhead side will look to focus now on securing a second domestic Treble, with Tierney delighted to have left his mark against the Dons.

“A goal is a goal for me,” said Tierney. “As long as the team wins I don’t care who scores if I am being honest.

“For me, it is brilliant to get another goal. I managed to celebrate in front of the Celtic fans which meant a lot to me.”

“It was a great counter and Moussa [Dembele] was on the ball. He had an option to his right and I gave him one to the left. He played a great through ball to me and I have hit it that hard it has gone in.

“We are always positive that’s the way it is at Celtic. You are always going to have games and we dealt with it great today.

“If it sends out a message then it does but we don’t concentrate on that. We concentrate on ourselves. That was the result and performance we wanted.”

At one stage in the second period and with just one goal between the teams, there was a little bit of niggle before both Mikael Lustig and Sam Cosgrove both went off.

Cosgrove’s challenge in particular irked Celtic, with Tierney warning that it could have been worse for the Hoops captain.

“Mikael’s was on the other side so I can’t comment on that,” said Tierney. “The one in front of me was a high challenge but it is not up to me.”

“Broonie’s foot wasn’t planted and if it wasn’t then you never know. “Hopefully you would like to think that there wasn’t any malice.

“He got up and celebrated and that is just the sort of character he is. He is brilliant and a true, true leader for us to learn off and work under. It is a privilege and an honour for me to work with him. We are always looking to win up here and we did it the way we wanted. That’s all I can say really.”
