In the build-up to tomorrow’s game we have heard a whole lot of noise this week.

And you can be assured that behind closed doors at Lennoxtown that it’ll be used to further motivate the Celtic players – if any further motivation was indeed required.

Put it this way, if I was in the shoes of either the players or the managers, you’d be keen to go out and prove a point or two. You always want to go into the games and make sure that you are ready to stand up to the challenge but in a week in which Celtic’s dominancy has been questioned then I think as a player you want to go out and show why you are in that position.

And aside from all of that, the bottom line is that if Celtic play to their full capabilities then they should come out of this game with all three points. Play the way that they can and it should be relatively comfortable for them.

For all that there has been talk of the lead being relatively narrow, it is a game changer really if Celtic can get the win. They would then go 9 points clear, with a game in hand and with a goal difference that is far superior to the Ibrox side.

For most of us that would be the end of any title challenge talk.

But amidst all the hullaballo of the build-up – and there is always a bit of a circus in the lead-up to these games – I think the main point is that you simply go and focus on your own game and do what you do well.

I will be interested to see just how Celtic line up.

Scott Sinclair has not had a bad season. He has not had the same impact that he had last term when he first arrived at the club but what I think a lot of people do not notice about Sinclair is how hard he works for the team.

He has 17 goals to his name so far this term which should underline the threat he has but for me he is also a player who puts in a shift. I also think that Brendan Rodgers is pretty faithful to players he has brought in and you would have to give consideration to the fact that Sinclair has an excellent track record against Rangers.

The manager will know more than anyone because he sees these players train day in, day out so he knows who is up for it and who is on it. But whether Sinclair starts or not will depend on the shape that Celtic play.

If he does start then he lends a hand to Kieran Tierney on that flank and the fact that he is willing to get his hands dirty means that there is some protection on that side. If he sacrifices Sinclair then I would suspect that it will be Tom Rogic who will come in.

For me, though, this is a game that Celtic will want to win and win well.

They have a number of big-game players within their ranks who have stepped up to the mark in a domestic context whenever there has been any hint of pressure or expectation.

I don’t know whether or not the manager will deviate from his favoured sole striker but I do think that Moussa Dembele is ready to push on now in this latter half of the season.

I thought that Odsonne Edouard made a decent impact when he came on at the break against Morton last weekend and it would be interesting to see how the two of them played together at Ibrox. My suspicion, though, will be that Edouard is on the bench and able to come on if the situation calls for it.

As I said, at training you get the chance to see players up close and you see things that not everyone is privy to. Sometimes your thinking can be changed about a line-up if you can tell that someone is ready to get out there and make a statement but I do think that whoever starts that Celtic have enough to come away with the points.
