BAIN: Kept his place after last week’s display at Ibrox and had to be alert to push out one ferocious free-kick from Curtis Main in the opening period. Quiet afternoon but looks like he could be set for a run in the team now. (7)

HENDRY: Shout for a penalty against him late in the game when he seemed to a fistful of Curtis Main’s shirt. Other than that tried to get forward from his place in the back three as Celtic pushed up for the second period. (7)

AJER: At the heart of a back three and one or two strong interventions. Will now head off for his first senior call-up to the national squad after a strong showing for Celtic since Christmas time. (7)

BOYATA: Still looks uneasy defensively. Had a nightmare against Rangers and looked unsteady at times against Motherwell. Got better as the game wore on but a shaky opening period. (6)

MCGREGOR: Started on the left-hand side in the absence of the injured Kieran Tierney. Usual industrious performance but a largely frustrating shift. (7)

FORREST: Replaced in the second period as Celtic tried to find a way through the Motherwell defence. A difficult afternoon in which he toiled to add to his goal stats. (6)

BROWN: TV pictures suggested he was caught in a war or words with Stephen Robinson as the teams made their way up the tunnel at the interval after his involvement in the Cedric Kipre incident. Usual shift from Brown in terms of his work rate and endeavour in the middle of the park. (7)

NTCHAM: Not as influential as he was last week as Celtic struggled to break down a stuffy Fir Park side. Replaced early in the second period. (6)

ROGIC: Celtic’s most dangerous player. Always looking to get on the frontfoot and look for openings. Wiped out at one point in the second period on the near touchline but got nothing for it. Fashioned a couple of decent chances (8)

EDOUARD: Kept his place in the starting line-up following his heroics against Rangers last week. Linked with Dembele but couldn’t make the same kind of impact that he did at Ibrox. Replaced by Scott Sinclair in the second period. (6)

DEMBELE: A couple of decent chances with headers late in the game, both of which were repelled by Trevor Carson. (7)

SINCLAIR: Showed a lack of confidence in the late stages when he went for goal instead of squaring the ball to either Tom Rogic or Patrick Roberts. (5)

ARMSTRONG: On for Ntcham early in the second period but unable to put his mark on the game. (5)

ROBERTS: On for Forrest to mark his first appearance since the end of November. Unlucky not to get a goal when he cut inside and clipped a long range effort onto the crossbar. (5)
