I have to say that Motherwell were quite right to appeal Cedric Kipre’s red-card at Fir Park - and it was absolutely the right call to rescind it.

It was never a red card and at best both he and Scott Brown could have got a yellow – even that would probably have been too harsh.

There was really nothing in it at all. There was a meaty challenge to kick it all off and then a bit of petulance from both players but I have to say that I could understand Motherwell’s irritation because it was Kipre who took the full punishment.

Meanwhile, Scott Bain kept the gloves for last Sunday’s trip to Fir Park and you have to say that the lad looks as though he is desperate to grasp the chance that he has been given.

It is a remarkable story, really, about the turns his career has taken this season and it just goes to show that you never know what is around the corner.

I think he has looked very calm and composed since coming into the team at Ibrox and I don’t think he has done his chances of a permanent deal any harm at all.

Craig Gordon looks to be on the mend with the keeper keen to get back between the sticks before the end of the season but as this term illustrated, you don’t want to be short of options.

I suspect that Bain will have a few offers when it gets to the end of the season and the end of his deal at Celtic but the very least that he has done over the last few weeks is given the management team something to think about.

I thought he made a few good saves against Motherwell and his temperament for the game at Ibrox was impressive given the little time he has had to prepare for what would have been the biggest game of his career.
