RANGERS midfielder Graham Dorrans says he is eager to recover his sharpness after almost six months on the sidelines.

The 30-year-old made his comeback against Motherwell last weekend after being injured during a draw at home to Kilmarnock in October.

And the 11-time Scotland internationalist revealed that he has been doing his homework on manager Graeme Murty’s style of play by watching every match while sidelined.

Dorrans told Rangers TV: “It has been good to be back, it was a long five or six months and it was tough.

“The physios and the fitness guys made it worthwhile for me; it was a hard time but to get 90 minutes last week and 90 minutes again on Saturday felt good.

“I have never been out for that long in my career, I have had a few injuries but never like this before.

“The sharpness will come with games, it was important to get the minutes in for me but I have only been back training for two or three weeks.

“As soon as I came back into training I realised I was fit but I wasn’t sharp enough to go into the games, which is why I got a couple of weeks in before I came back.”

“I have also been to all the game, home and away, to watch them and see how he works.

“Being involved with the boys again has been great, getting back out on the training pitch and seeing how the gaffer works, how his training is and what his philosophies are.

“It has been good for me but I have tried to keep myself involved in the meetings and watch training so I know what he wants from the boys.”

Dorrans insists he is delighted to be back on the pitch regularly for the Ibrox side as Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic looms.

He added: “It has been good under the gaffer; I hadn’t played under him because my last game before the injury was Kilmarnock, which also happened to be the previous manager’s final game.

“They got me ready to go and with the time off I have had it has been great to come back in and play 90 minutes straight away.”
