There was a fair bit of hand wringing this week with regards to the release of the post-split fixtures but I am not sure that it is entirely worth getting too carried away over.

To me, it will always be an irrelevance just who Celtic win the league against. I can understand why supporters may look at it and say that it is a bit sweeter to do it against your oldest rivals but for me it is all about making sure that the league is won – I actually couldn’t care less how and where that happens.

I also don’t think that the split will be going anywhere soon. We have been playing with it for the last 18 seasons now and it seems pretty entrenched in our set-up now.

One of the positives for me is that it offers a chance to blood young players into the first-team set-up if you are in the position whereby you know that you have no threat of regulation or that the league has been won.

As for the possibility of a league decider between Celtic and Rangers, it could yet happen that way. If Celtic slip up against Hibs then they could effectively clinch it against the Ibrox side but I can’t imagine that anyone would seriously want to prolong getting over the line.

This is what it is about – getting your hands on the title again. Who the opposition happen to be the day you do it is an irrelevance.
