It was the perfect ten in more ways than one.

Brendan Rodgers’ enjoyed his tenth unbeaten game against Rangers yesterday afternoon with the victory delivered emphatically. It tops the sequence of 9 undefeated results Walter Smith’s side enjoyed over Celtic in their nine-in-a-row era and on recent evidence turning the tide will not come any time soon.

Mikael Lustig has played in 9 out of those ten games – he missed the 3-2 win at Ibrox because of suspension – and he admitted that Celtic’s dominance over Rangers has come ‘easy’.

“From the start we showed we wanted to play football,” he said. “Moussa had one off the post in the first couple of minutes.

“They didn’t press us, they didn’t make it hard for us. It maybe sounds a bit cheeky but it felt quite easy.

“Obviously there was a lot of talk. But we stay calm, we’re humble and we do our talking on the pitch and we’ve won again.

“There’s been plenty of them [wins over Rangers], to be fair. Like I said before the game, though, we like to play here. Rangers couldn’t find a way to do something against us.”

Not that the Swede could resist a little bit of a nibble.

News that the Rangers dressing room greeted the Scottish Cup semi-final draw with loud cheers, Lustig smiled:

“I didn’t really react to be honest. But they probably knew they were going to get some extra days off and get an extra holiday, that’s probably why they were cheering.”

Meanwhile, Lustig believes that Neil Lennon will do everything he can to stop Celtic winning the league at Easter Road on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers’ side require only a win to seal their third successive title but if they cross the line there will be some mixed feelings on Lustig’s part.

“He means a lot to me and he brought me to this club,” he said.

“He has been a wonderful manager for me personally and everyone knows the things he did for Celtic. “I do think he is emotionally attached to Hibs now and he will want to win the game.

“He has had a really good season. “We have struggled against them in a couple of matches and it will be another difficult game.

“Probably, Neil is a wonderful manager. They give everything and are hard to beat but we score a lot of goals against them and that can happen and we can also keep another clean sheet.”

Meanwhile, Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham joked that there was no way he fancied replicating team-mate Moussa Dembele’s spot-kick.

The French midfielder netted the fourth from the spot after Jason Holt had pulled Patrick Roberts back but there was no temptation to indulge in a bit of colour.

“I was the second taker so I always going to hit that,” he said. “I wasn’t tempted to chip it like Moussa though - no way!

“I was pleased to score and I enjoyed the game. It would be an amazing feeling to go on and win the trophy.”

Ntcham was signed in the summer and presented the biggest transfer fee from Celtic since Scott Brown’s signing from Hibs a decade ago. The midfielder’s influence has grown steadily over the course of the season and there is a theory that he is the closest player of Victor Wanyaman’s ilk at the club since the Kenyan left for the Premiership.

A French under-21 international, Ntcham has insisted that there is still more to come from him at Celtic.

“I feel going playing for Celtic and I have a lot of confidence because I am playing a lot of football,” he said.

“I don’t know if today was my best performance, maybe, maybe not, but I know I can always improve.

“There is more to come from me.

“The performance said a lot about the team. We were very positive and focussed. I don’t know if it was a big statement but it was a big result for the club.

“I am happy to be part of this season and I would love to be part of a side that wins the Treble.

“I wasn’t involved in the first cup win so it would be nice to be part of this one.

“The important thing is for the team to win.”

And the player believes that he has improved under the guidance of working daily with Rodgers at Lennoxtown.

“He is a great manager,” he said. “I am happy to work with him and I think he’s happy to work with me. He always pushes us in training.

“It was a great decision to come to Celtic as he has improve me a lot as a player, with and without the ball. He’s helped my all-round game.”
