Braehead Clan have made a star signing for the upcoming season, with American defenceman Zack Fitzgerald joing the Glasgow side as the club’s new captain for the 2018/19 season.
The 32-year-old returns to Braehead after spending the previous three seasons with the Sheffield Steelers, where he won a league and playoff championship.
Fitzgerald originally came to the UK in 2014, in his first season in the EIHL he was a member of the Clan team that finished second and qualified for their inaugural Champions Hockey League campaign.
Clan Head Coach Pete Russellsaid: “I am delighted to bring Zack Fitzgerald back to Braehead for 2018/19. Zack is a player and person that every club, team, coach and fanbase needs.
“He is a warrior, a natural leader and a huge character. For me, we needed to sign a club captain, I knew Zack was that guy I wanted and I am delighted we got him.
“Zack will lead on and off the ice. He will defend his net and of course his team-mates. It’s another big part of the core that this club needs and I need.”
