GLENN MIDDLETON reckons his exploits in Dark Blue played a part in bringing him to the attentions of the Light Blues.

Now the Rangers kid is eager to make the most of his chance at Ibrox to progress his international ambitions with Scotland in the coming years.

Middleton returned north of the border in January as he put pen-to-paper on a dream deal with his boyhood heroes.

The winger has yet to make his first team bow for the Gers but he has been a regular feature for the Development Squad in recent months.

And he is determined to make a name for himself for club and country going forward following his departure from Norwich.

Middleton told SportTimes: “When you go away with the international side there are always people watching, from whatever country, and you have the chance to make an impression.

“You have to make sure you are at the top of your game. Luckily when people from Rangers had been watching Scotland games I had been doing well and that was the stepping stone for them to bring me in.

“Any boy that has played youth internationals wants to take that next step to the 21s and the first team. That is everyone’s dream.

“I think throughout my age group, and the age group below, we are really strong and when we come together for the Under-19s next year I think we have got a really good chance of doing something really good.”
