The news that Steven Gerrard has been approached in regards to the Rangers job is interesting.

There would be both negative and positive aspects to the appointment, it if were to come to fruition.

On a negative front you would point to the fact that he has very little experience in coaching, but the other side of that is that while he might be a rookie in terms of management his football background and his experience of the game is second to none.

It would certainly be an appointment that would enthuse the Rangers support, I’m sure, but it would also be interesting to see Brendan Rodgers go up against his old Liverpool captain.
